29 Jan 2015 – The magnificent St. Stithians College campus was the venue for the recent Johannesburg Rugby Business Network, which saw a dynamic mix of business and rugby networking.
Chairman of the SA branch, Bob Skinstad, hosted conversations with Sandy Geyer, renowned international business leader and author of the Path of the Lion, aptly followed by a Q & A with Kevin De Klerk, President of the Emirates Golden Lions Rugby Union, based in Johannesburg.
Sandy presented a riveting overview and some fascinating insights into the role of the entrepreneurial intelligence that a successful entrepreneur develops in business leadership, which had the audience evaluating their skills and how they fared on her charts.
A natural crossover to the path of another great lion, ex-Springbok Kevin De Klerk, a true gentleman of the game, who gave a solid and frank summary of the exciting path of the Golden Lions Rugby Union and their strategy as they take on Emirates as a major sponsor. He covered how they are aiming to meet their new goals of climbing the ranks of both Super Rugby and the Currie Cup with vigour and determination – good news for local and international rugby alike.
Along with business clients and associates, it was great to welcome to well-known rugby personalities John Smit, Rudolf Straueli and Joe Gillingham to the evening.Popular Cape Talk/702 sports presenter Jean Smyth was outstanding as always in his role as MC and host for the evening. A raffle was held to raise funds that were donated to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital.
