Tuesday 5th August was a night to remember as Seartec and the Chris Burger Petro Jackson Fund filled the Monte Casino ballroom and honoured the game of rugby and the players who have never given up their passion for the sport, despite injuries and personal setbacks. The annual Players Fund Bok Banquet was aptly themed “For the Love of the Game” and aimed to raise money to support the Fund’s work, which supports athletes who have been seriously injured whilst playing rugby.
The Fund has helped former rugby players with disabilities such as spinal cord and brain injuries and show them that there is a place for them in a community that still cares. It does not just assist professional players but works with all players who have sustained severe injuries, including many young athletes. Seartec was proud to be the Presenting Sponsor of the banquet, saluting the strength and courage of the #HumanSpirit as shown by the athletes and the Fund itself. Seartec hosted guests at their five tables and were joined by a Springbok rugby player and had the privilege of enjoying the company of Victor Matfield, Jannie Du Plessis, Lwazi Mvovo, Patrick Lambie and Eben Etsebeth. The MC for the evening was the entertaining Dan Nicholl and the keynote speaker, former Springbok player Ashwin Willemse, gave a powerful talk filled with passion and received a standing ovation!
Seartec’s involvement with the Chris Burger Petro Jackson Fund was driven by the fact that they share, in business, the qualities of tenacity and bravery and sheer energy and passion, and the love of the game. Seartec also respects the fine work being done by the fund. Seartec’s Chief Marketing Officer, Bob Skinstad, a former Springbok has remained connected to the rugby world. The night was a great success all round.
