Seartec was the major sponsor of the inaugural Overstrand Classic, a fabulous golfing event that not only highlighted the exquisite natural beauty of the Overstrand region in the Western Cape, but also raised money for the Madam Mayor’s Trust Fund. Funds raised go towards the extremely worthy cause of Early Childhood Development across the Overstrand Municipality.
The Overstrand Classic was held on Wednesday the 9th of December at Arabella Golf Club, which is located at the majestic Arabella golf estate. The Whale Crier of Hermanus started the golf off by blowing a horn at 12 for the shotgun start. The teams teed off, and while the wind immediately picked up, meaning that the golfers battled through a blustery few holes, it soon settled and the conditions became perfect for a great round of golf. There were 21 teams of four playing, making for a great deal of camaraderie and friendly competition between the teams. VPAR Live Golf Scoring meant that players could view their scores on the electronic leader board at any time during the game.
After the golf finished, everyone enjoyed a superb wine tasting with Creation Wines. This was followed by a prize-giving ceremony where Supersport commentator Matt Pearce entertained the crowd as MC. Madam Mayor Nicolette Botha-Guthrie handed out prizes to the top five prize winners.
Congratulations to the Sunshine team (Keith Clarke, Nigel Hysom, Pat Oliver and Wayde Davidse) who placed first. Second prize went to the University Pretoria team (Toby Sutcliffe, Trevor Quirk, Sue Quirk and Mandy Sutcliffe) and third prize to the Overberg Wine Hacks team (Craig Wessels, Andrew Gunn, Brian Frost and Chris Goatley). Fourth prize went to the Arabella Hotel and Spa team and fifth place to the Eagle Lighting team. Congratulations to all the winners and well done to all who participated in the event.
There were many people and organisations who contributed to the success of the day and Seartec would like to thank the generous sponsors of the Overstrand Classic: OfficeBox, Limtech, AVT Solutions, BSG, Arabella Country Estate, Golf Lab, VPAR and Creation Wines. Another sincere thank you goes out to the prize donors: Restless River, Deli & Wine Lab, Oakley, The Toad Restaurants, TFG Oneiric Wines, Golf Lab, Hamilton Russel Vineyards, Brand ID, La Pentola Restaurant, KWV, Fast Company Publication, Hermanus Marine Hotel, Arabella Hotel & Spa, Mountain View Manor, Copperleaf, Bouchard Finlayson, Eagle Lighting, Seartec’s Pop Up Shop, Cape Nature, Windsor Hotel Hermanus, Whale Coast 96 FM and Overstrand Tourism.
